05.3: Visual Design for Print and Screen: Design Systems Part 4
This week was the last week to work on our deliverables for this assignment. Here are each of my final deliverables, and reflections on each. The link to each deliverable’s PDF is posted at the bottom of the page:
Poster
For the final iteration of my poster, I added white accent lines behind the main image and the headline text. I felt that this small addition would add a little more visual interest and emphasis to two of the most important elements of the poster, while also providing me with an accent color to work with for my additional deliverables.
If I could change anything about this poster, I would go back and fix the minor issues that show up in the Photoshopped elements, namely the snags in the arm cut out and outline.

Article Spread
During the last class session when we discussed article spreads, I realized that I was designing my deliverable incorrectly. Instead of designing four pages for one article (as I was supposed to), I thought we were only supposed to design one spread for two different articles.
In this iteration of my article spread, I made sure to include all of my accent colors, and to rely on pictures and pull quotes to break up my text blocks. I also made the decision to highlight the entire first paragraph of the piece, since it highlights the over all message of the article. I did this by pulling the entire paragraph out and spreading it over two column lengths on the first page.

Website Layout
For my website layout, I used Figma to create landing, speakers, about, and itinerary pages. I used the orange accent color from my poster and article spread as the background color for the website, and used the reddish/pink as the accent color. I also included the arm graphic on each page to give some continuity with the poster and between pages. For the itinerary page, I recreated the poster with an inversion of colors, to further that poster/website consistency. For my speaker page, I drew inspiration from a picture I saw on Behance, arranging each photograph in columns with varying intervals, and including an accent ring around the Keynote speaker image. I imagine that the transition from each page includes a smooth animation, with the new page replacing the old page by swiping up from the bottom of the screen. For transitions to the itinerary page, I imagine the arm moving towards the center, and the talk/speaker information populating the screen after this movement.
