Time Capsule: Part 1
My first step in creating my time capsule was creating a list of the objects that I own that have sentimental value for me, and exploring the root of that sentimental value for each item. In order to do this, I created a visual diagram containing capsules for each of my 4 most treasured items. The visual diagram helped me to remember why the item means what it means to me, and come up with short/one word phrases that would capture the meaning. A picture of the diagram is included below:
After creating the digram and remembering each item’s sentimental value, I decided that the best way to communicate each object’s worth would be through the Instagram interface. I decided on this because many of the memories that are tied to each object has been captured in a picture stored on my phone. I believed that pictures paired with explanatory captions would be the best way for me to organize my thoughts, and communicate the importance of each object to a viewer.
The instagram profile that I created for my time capsule objects has 4 rows of 3 pictures. Each row represents one object from the time capsule, and begins with an image of a one word explanation of the object’s importance. The second picture in the first image of the row shows the time capsule object. The caption under each introductory photo pair explains the word and how it ties in with the object. The following photo collections in the row depict the memories associated with each object, and further explain each object’s sentimental value.
